Summer Rental in Sainte Foy Tarentaise
A small family friendly summer retreat, with breath-taking scenery and sport activities
Time To Ski offers accommodation for your Sainte Foy Summer holiday
Sainte Foy Tarantaise is one of France’s smaller resorts and a hidden gem. Part of the Vanoise, France’s oldest National Park, the ‘High Tarentaise’ is an area of outstanding natural beauty. Several of the best ski resorts in the world are found here, and in the summer time they are transformed into quiet places where you can experience clean air, sunshine and family activities of all types that don’t involve an iPad, mobile phone or computer!
What can I do in Sainte Foy during the Summer?
You can get out in the fresh mountain air, wander through the flower filled alpine meadows, and enjoy the stunning high mountain views surrounding Sainte Foy. You can watch the marmottes, deer and chamois, while they watch you back. You should also look skywards every now and then to see if the eagles are soaring, or the bearded vultures are stretching out their 2.2m wingspans. And when your adventurous streak kicks in, there is no shortage to how you can get your adrenaline fix!
Walking, Hiking and Trekking
Whether you take a peaceful stroll or a strenuous hike in these magnificent mountains, there are miles and miles of tracks for all ability levels, and all fitness levels. Whether you start from your own front door, drive to somewhere very remote, or gain some height by taking one of the winter ski lifts, there really is something for everyone here.
Picnicking
Whether you take a peaceful stroll or a strenuous hike in these magnificent mountains, be sure to take a picnic and find your own personal spot to enjoy the stunning views. These will be the moments you remember for ever.
Trail Running
A very popular activity, and for good reason. You travel light and cover the distance more quickly. Running keeps you warm, so running whilst it’s snowing or raining can be an exhilarating experience. More commonly though, you will be running in glorious sunshine, discovering trails in the forest and up the mountain.
Camping
Imagine a night under the stars, miles away from any electricity and no phone reception. With no light pollution, the Milky Way looks so close that you feel like you stick your hand in the air and touch it! Imagine waking up to best views in the Alps. Your first cup of tea in the morning will never have tasted so good!
Fishing
Day permits are available for well stocked lakes and the rivers flowing from them. Each spring, the lakes and the mountain streams are restocked with trout. Different species of trout in different lakes. Fly fishing is the norm here, so why not pack your lightweight gear and combine a good hike with an overnight camp, and cast your fist fly just as the sun hits the lake?
A Night in A Refuge
Most refuges have a guardian looking after them during the summer months. (Check in advance for dates.) Each day, the guardian cooks an evening meal which makes for a very sociable evening with other like-minded hikers, and removes the need to carry too much food. Spending the night in a refuge allows you to travel further, and why not combine two or three refuges and have yourself a really big adventure!
Bird & Wildlife Watching
Sainte Foy Tarentaise bursts into life in the summertime. Enjoy a peaceful stroll or a strenuous hike, and see the magnificent eagles and vultures, the regal deer and chamois, the cutest of marmottes, or the abundance of wild flowers. And whilst you’re out there, why not pick a few wild raspberries, myrtilles or alpine strawberries for your tea?
Local Cuisine
There’s a wonderful array of traditional local cuisine on offer in and around Sainte Foy. From small outdoor (good weather only) family restaurants hidden away in small villages, to traditional French recipes served in high mountain refuges, to more fusion orientated cuisine in our local smokery and craft brewery, you won’t be short of culinary delights to pick from!
