Sainte-Foy-Tarentaise
We love the unspoiled charm of Sainte-Foy.
It is the perfect choice for families. It is a relaxed, boutique ski resort with sensational skiing for all abilities, on uncrowded slopes. Sainte-Foy is a compact resort with no cars in the centre, and all our apartments are centrally located, ski-in/ski-out, and only a few steps from the shops, restaurants and bars.
Learning to Ski
There is a choice of Ski schools with English and French speaking ski instructors, and a mini ski club for early learners. There are even two slopes dedicated to sledging for young children, making this a wonderful place for all the family to enjoy playing in the snow.
The nursery slopes in Sainte-Foy provide the ideal environment for learners, young and old, to build up their confidence before exploring more pistes in this family friendly resort. And remember, it’s free skiing for children under 5.
For the more Adventurous
Sainte-Foy also boasts fabulously unspoiled off-piste, where everybody has their favourite “secret stash” of powder. It is the sheer vastness of accessible off-piste that attracts those who love venturing back county.
If you don’t want to venture too far off the beaten track, there are designated off-piste areas with easy access back to the pistes. And of course, lots of advanced off-piste and touring terrain, with stunning views of glaciers and untracked snow fields. Not forgetting the spectacular tree skiing, but watch out for the deer!
Little surprise then, that the ski instructors from Val d’Isère come here on their days off.
Uncrowded Pistes
The only thing missing from Sainte Foy’s wide range of attributes, is miles of motorway pistes for boy racers. That’s not to say that they don’t hold training for downhill racers here, or even that there aren’t black runs to make your nerves tingle, it’s just that if you want to get rolled over by gangs of boy racers, you’re in the wrong resort.
Everywhere you go on the piste map, you can enjoy stunning views of the Tarentaise valley, Sainte-Foy sits tranquilly in the Tarentaise forest, and this tranquility is extended to your queue free skiing. But don’t worry if you get the urge to see what a real lift queue looks like, it’s only 25 minutes by car to some of the largest ski areas in the world, Val d’Isère, Tignes, Les Arcs and La Rosière.
Even in the peak school holiday weeks there’s hardly a queue to be seen in Sainte-Foy. And as they still quaintly respect the two hour lunch break in these parts, the lift attendants are often left twiddling their thumbs.
Great Location
There are plenty of easy meeting points for when you’re ready for that mid morning coffee, or a traditional lunch to keep you going until your favourite tipple after all the lifts have closed for the day.
Everything is close by, making it easy to put the kids into ski school, pick them up at lunchtime after a great morning’s skiing, or play sledging on safe, sledge only slopes during the afternoon and evening.
Why Self Catering?
Perhaps you love to cook, and feel most relaxed when making your own little home. You still have the option to go out, but you’ve also got the option to stay in, and relax in comfort. Perhaps there’s something about being totally worn out after a day’s skiing that necessitates a trip to the spa, and chilling out on your own sofa.
Our ski-in / ski-out apartments, are centrally located, which means you can easily come down to them at lunch time, if you want to avoid more expensive on-piste restaurants.
