New Lift: This view will soon be changing!
‘Mon petit doigt me dit’ (literally, ‘my little finger told me’, but we might say ‘a little birdie told me’), that the long awaited new lift to service the Bataillette side of Sainte Foy will soon be a reality!
The Mairie has finally purchased the small dilapidated farm just above where they are building the new Fermes d’Eugénie apartment block.
Yannick Amet, le Maire, says he is pleased to have acquired this land for the commune of Sainte Foy, which will enable the Mairie to forge ahead with installing this new lift.
They will be using the old Arpettaz lift which was taken down last year and put into storage in Bourg Saint Maurice, to construct this new lift. It will take skiers and boarders from where the farm is, up to the left hand side of the bottom of Arpettaz piste, just above the La Chapelle piste.
There is some additional building envisaged to go along with the new lift, including an underground carpark (underneath the lift), and some additional apartment accommodation. The tunnel will be also be extended towards La Bataillette, with the piste going over the top of it. This will allow skiers to access the new lift directly from Piste 18 – Retour Baitaillettaz.
We haven’t seen the plans for all this yet, but if Yannick says it’s going to happen, then we believe it will !
