Sainte Foy Tarentaise ~ 27 May 2020

The big news in Sainte Foy is that the Arpettaz (Second) Lift is being replaced this summer.  Now that work has actually started this week, it feels real, and believable!

Each week we will be providing an update with lots of photos, and getting the opinions and comments from some of Sainte Foy’s well known characters, and a few from those on the rogue’s gallery too!

It’s early days, but the road up to Plan Bois has been cleared of snow and has dried out so it’s not too squishy for lorries to drive up there.

As you can see in the lead photo, the chairs have been taken off the cable.

Chair parts are stacked and ready to be carted away.

The covers have been removed from the overhead gantry and it is also being taken down.

And just in case anyone was thinking about some summer grass skiing, the workmen are setting up to have lunch on the lift-off area!

It’s well and truly the ‘Fin d’Exploitation’, End of Operation, for Sainte Foy’s Arpettaz chairlift as we know it!
